Governor Oyebanji Dissolves Boards and Appointees in Ekiti

Ekiti State Governor Mr Biodun Oyebanji has approved the immediate dissolution of boards, commissions, and parastatals within the state, along with the termination of appointments for all political appointees, including Special Assistants, Senior Special Assistants, and Technical Assistants. This decision, communicated through a statement by Mr Yinka Oyebode, the Special Adviser (Media) to the Governor, is part of the preparations for the winding down of the Governor’s first term ahead of his second term inauguration scheduled for October 16, 2026.

However, certain positions remain unaffected, including chairmen and members of statutory boards such as the State Independent Electoral Commission (SIEC), Civil Service Commission, House of Assembly Service Commission, and Judicial Service Commission. The governing councils of state-owned tertiary institutions will also remain intact.

Additionally, the Chairmen of the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Local Government Service Commission, and Teaching Service Commission will continue in their roles, despite their boards being dissolved. The Governor expressed gratitude to the affected appointees for their contributions to his administration.
