Police Deploy 30 CPs for Osun Governorship Election Security

The Nigeria Police Force stated that 30 Commissioners of Police would be deployed for the Osun State governorship election scheduled for Saturday. CSP Anietie Iniedu, the Force Public Relations Officer, disclosed this during a press briefing in Osogbo, Osun State.

The police began personnel deployment three weeks prior to the election, with over 15,000 police operatives set to be on duty. A Deputy Inspector-General of Police will coordinate security efforts, supported by a police helicopter and drone unit for area surveillance.

Each of the 30 local government areas will have a unit of the Mobile Police Force, with a Commissioner of Police and a Deputy Commissioner of Police assigned to each area. The police will restrict vehicular movement in the state from 12 am on Saturday, allowing only essential and security personnel, as well as voters.

Additionally, a mobile court will be established to address electoral offences, and about 34 illegal firearms have been recovered in ongoing investigations.
