PSC Deploys Team to Monitor Police for Osun Election

The Police Service Commission (PSC) has announced the deployment of a high-powered monitoring delegation to oversee police conduct during the upcoming governorship election in Osun State, scheduled for August 15, 2026. The delegation is led by DIG (Dr) Taiwo Lakanu (retd), who serves as a Board Member and Chairman of the PSC Standing Committee on Police Matters.

The PSC, through a press statement issued by Torty Kalu, Head of Protocol & Public Relations, emphasized the importance of police officers adhering to guiding principles governing election duties. The Commission aims to ensure that police conduct remains impartial, rule-based, and civil throughout the electoral process.

Officers assigned to the election are urged to display exemplary conduct, remain apolitical, and protect citizens' rights to vote freely and peacefully. The PSC has also assured the public that it will take action against any officer found compromising the election's credibility.
