Gov Soludo’s Aide Advocates Hard Work at Awka Prison

Dr. Nelson Omenugha, the Special Adviser to the Governor of Anambra State on Youth Reformation/Empowerment, visited the Awka Medium Correctional Centre, where he encouraged inmates, particularly the youth, to adopt virtues such as hard work, integrity, and patience. He noted that the pursuit of quick wealth often leads young people into crime, resulting in incarceration.

Omenugha urged inmates to view their time in prison as an opportunity for reflection and personal development, emphasizing that true success comes from honest labor. He toured the Centre’s vocational workshop and other rehabilitation facilities, assuring inmates they could rebuild their lives.

Omenugha commended the Nigerian Correctional Service for its commitment to inmate reformation and pledged to collaborate with them to support inmates due for release who have acquired vocational skills, helping them establish small businesses. DCC Innocent Amaechi, Officer in Charge of the Centre, expressed gratitude for Omenugha's visit and called for continued collaboration to enhance rehabilitation efforts.
