Governor Nwifuru Promises Justice for Slain Ebonyi Monarch

On March 1, 2026, HRH Ez Franci Igw, a traditional ruler and father of former Deputy Governor Eric Kelechi Igw, was tragically murdered after being abducted. In response, Governor Franci Nwifuru led a condolence visit to the Igw family, expressing deep sadness over the incident.

He emphasized the government's commitment to ensuring justice for the slain monarch and stated that those involved in the heinous crime would face the full wrath of the law. The Nigeria Police Force confirmed the murder and reported that two suspects, believed to be part of the kidnapping syndicate, had been arrested.

Following intelligence-led operations, seven additional suspects were apprehended, bringing the total to nine in custody. Governor Nwifuru reassured the community of ongoing investigations and the government's dedication to enhancing security to protect lives and property in Ebonyi State.
