Sanusi to Lead 2026 Eid el-Fitr Durbar in Kano

On Wednesday, Kano State Governor Yusuf announced that Muhammadu Sanusi II, the 16th Emir of Kano, will lead the 2026 Eid el-Fitr Durbar. This decision follows credible intelligence reports indicating attempts by individuals to create unrest during the Sallah period.

The Kano government is committed to preserving the state's cultural heritage and has unveiled strict guidelines to prevent any breakdown of law and order during the celebrations. The hawan idi Eid Durbar will take place at the Kofar Mata Eid ground, with designated routes including Gidan Shettima and Kofar Fatalwa leading to the Emir's palace.

Additionally, the hawan Nasarawa will be held in a modified form without horseback display, while the hawan Daush, hawan Fanisau, and hawan Dorayi have been suspended for public safety. The government has directed security agencies to intensify surveillance to ensure compliance with these directives and has urged residents to remain calm and cooperate with security agencies to ensure a peaceful Sallah celebration.
