Kano Governor Lauds DSS for Arrest of Gun Courier

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State praised the Department of State Services (DSS) for successfully arresting Muhammad Abubakar, a 30-year-old suspected gun courier from Gezawa Local Government Area. The arrest occurred while Abubakar was transporting four RPG tubes and three AK-47 rifles, along with two empty magazines, believed to be destined for criminal elements in Katsina State.

Preliminary investigations indicated that Abubakar was allegedly to receive N450,000 upon successful delivery of the weapons, which were reportedly collected from an individual identified as Bello Maigatari near the border area of Jigawa State. Governor Yusuf described the operation as a major success in the ongoing fight against banditry and violent crime threatening communities across northern Nigeria.

He emphasized the importance of intelligence gathering and collaboration among security agencies to address emerging security threats and reaffirmed the Kano State government's commitment to supporting security agencies in their efforts to maintain public safety.
