Governor Yusuf Allocates ₦1.5bn for Mass Wedding in Kano

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State has approved ₦1.5 billion for a mass wedding event aimed at benefiting 1,500 couples. The initiative, disclosed by Daurawa, includes a budget of ₦1 million per couple for household items such as beds, mattresses, bedsheets, pillows, furniture, and food items.

Additionally, each bride will receive ₦100,000 as part of the dowry, along with another ₦100,000 to support small-scale businesses. This mass wedding is part of the promises made during Yusuf's electoral campaign.

The governor's approval also emphasizes the importance of pre-marital medical tests, including screenings for HIV, hepatitis, pregnancy, and genotype, to mitigate risks associated with sickle cell anemia in children. The Hisbah Corp will guide couples on rules to discourage divorce without prior involvement of the Hisbah board.

The date for the mass wedding will be announced once the governor's approval is finalized.
