Gov Yusuf Declares Voter Registration Mandatory in Kano

Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has declared voter registration mandatory for all eligible citizens in the state, shifting it from a civic duty to a compulsory obligation. The governor emphasized this during the inauguration of the Committee for Voter Registration and Civic Awareness at the Government House.

The committee has been tasked with ensuring that at least 10 million voters are captured in the ongoing nationwide registration exercise, with a goal of registering an additional five million voters by the end. The Secretary of State Government, Alhaji Faruk Umar Ibrahim, highlighted the importance of this initiative in strengthening democracy and urged the committee to work closely with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to ensure the availability of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) to all citizens.

Governor Yusuf emphasized the need for integrity and development in leadership, urging all eligible citizens in Kano to participate in the voter registration process.
