Voter registration now compulsory in Kano  – Gov Yusuf

Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has announced that voter registration is now compulsory in the state, shifting from being a civic responsibility to a mandatory duty for all eligible citizens. The governor emphasized this during the inauguration of the Committee for Voters Registration and Civic Awareness.

The committee's primary goal is to ensure that at least 10 million voters are registered in the ongoing nationwide exercise, with a target of an additional five million registered voters in Kano by the end. The committee will monitor polling units to facilitate the collection of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and work closely with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to ensure the availability of voter cards.

Governor Yusuf stressed the importance of integrity and passion in electing leaders, urging citizens to take advantage of the voter registration process.
