INEC voices concern over 360,000 uncollected PVCs in Kano

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has raised concerns over the 360,000 uncollected Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) in Kano State. The Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Ambassador Abdu Zango, revealed that a committee has been set up by the Kano State Government to boost awareness about the ongoing voter registration exercise.

The committee, chaired by the Commissioner of Information and Internal Affairs, Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, aims to educate residents on the importance of collecting PVCs for full participation in elections. Ambassador Zango urged the committee to intensify their campaign efforts.

The state government assured full cooperation with INEC in mobilizing eligible voters for registration and PVC collection. Additionally, the committee will engage various groups in the state, including opposition parties, to encourage broad participation in the electoral process.

The government also appealed to INEC to consider increasing the number of polling units in Kano to ease congestion during elections.
