Governor Yusuf Praises Peaceful Kano By-Elections Conduct

Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and security agencies for the peaceful conduct of the recent by-elections held in the Ungogo State Assembly constituency. In a statement issued on Saturday by his spokesperson, Sunusi Batur Dawakin Tofa, Governor Yusuf described the elections as a significant step forward for democracy in Kano.

He noted the orderly atmosphere at polling units, indicating a growing political maturity among voters and demonstrating effective security arrangements. The governor expressed appreciation to the residents of Kano Municipal for their peaceful participation and praised political parties, particularly the All Progressives Congress (APC), for adhering to rules and refraining from actions that could cause unrest.

He highlighted that this was the first time in recent history that elections were conducted without crisis or violence. Governor Yusuf assured residents that his administration would continue to safeguard lives and properties, regardless of political or religious differences, and pledged to maintain close collaboration with electoral bodies and security agencies to ensure future elections in the state are transparent, credible, and free from violence.
