Governor Mutfwang Distributes SUVs Amid School Crisis

On his birthday, Governor Mutfwang of Plateau State distributed SUVs to members of the Plateau State Council of Chiefs, highlighting the importance of traditional rulers in local governance. The event took place at the Old Government House in Rayfield and was part of a broader initiative to improve the welfare of traditional institutions.

The SUVs, valued at approximately N51 million each, were part of a collaboration with 17 local government councils. However, this gesture comes amidst criticism as pupils in the Tanbol Sabongida Ward are forced to learn in mud classrooms, with community leader Vincent Bulu urging for the construction of a primary school.

The current educational conditions are dire, with children learning in makeshift structures that cannot withstand the rainy season. The Plateau State 2026 budget allocates N91.30 billion to education, aiming to address such issues across primary and tertiary levels.
