Governor Kefas Signs Orders to Combat Thuggery in Taraba

On Sunday, Governor Agbu Kefas of Taraba State signed three executive orders targeting political thuggery, illegal mining, and drug abuse. The orders are part of efforts to strengthen security and maintain public order as political activities increase.

Commissioner for Information and Re-orientation, Zainab Jalingo, announced the measures. Governor Kefas emphasized that drug abuse poses a major threat to youth and society, fueling crime and violence.

The executive order on drug abuse provides legal support for monitoring and prosecuting related activities while promoting public awareness and rehabilitation. Additionally, the order against political thuggery prohibits the recruitment and use of political thugs, aiming to deter violence and intimidation during elections.

Kefas also addressed illegal mining, stating it contributes to environmental degradation and safety concerns, damaging farmlands and polluting water sources. The executive orders reflect the administration's commitment to restoring peace and stability in Taraba State.
