Plateau Governor Bans Night Mining and Grazing Amid Attacks

Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State has enacted a total ban on night mining and grazing in response to a surge in insecurity marked by deadly attacks in the region. This executive order, effective immediately, prohibits the use of underage children for grazing activities.

The governor made this declaration on Monday during a high-profile sympathy visit to various communities in Barkin Ladi and Bassa Local Government Areas, which have recently experienced significant violence attributed to suspected bandits, resulting in loss of life and displacement of families. Accompanying Mutfwang were Dr.

Bernard Doro, the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, and several high-ranking government officials. The governor emphasized the need to protect the lives of Plateau citizens and stated that security personnel would be deployed to prevent further incursions.

He also ordered that mining operations cease by 5:00 PM daily to tighten security measures and prevent nighttime movements that could facilitate criminal activities.
