Nigeria Launches Health Security Scorecard for States

The Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF), in partnership with the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention, the World Bank, and Resolve to Save Lives Nigeria, launched a health security scorecard on Wednesday during a validation workshop in Abuja. This scorecard is intended to enhance the monitoring of states' preparedness for infectious disease outbreaks and public health emergencies.

Dr Ahmad Abdulwahab, Executive Director of Programme Partnership at the NGF Secretariat, stated that the initiative aims to create a unified framework for evaluating health security governance across Nigeria's 36 states. The scorecard will integrate key health security indicators into a single assessment tool, allowing governors to monitor progress and identify gaps.

Dr Nanlop Ogburuke, Executive Director of Resolve to Save Lives Nigeria, emphasized the importance of strengthening state capacities for effective health security. The workshop included representatives from all 36 states reviewing health security indicators to ensure the scorecard reflects state-specific realities.
