NGF Launches Health Security Scorecard for States

On Wednesday, the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF), in collaboration with the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention, the World Bank, and Resolve to Save Lives Nigeria, unveiled a Health Security Scorecard during a workshop in Abuja. This initiative aims to strengthen the monitoring of states' preparedness for infectious disease outbreaks and public health emergencies.

Dr Ahmad Abdulwahab, Executive Director of Programme Partnership at the NGF Secretariat, stated that the scorecard is designed to create a unified framework for evaluating health security governance across Nigeria's 36 states. It will integrate key health security indicators into a single assessment tool, enabling governors to monitor progress and identify gaps.

Dr Nanlop Ogburuke, Executive Director of Resolve to Save Lives Nigeria, emphasized the importance of state-level implementation for effective health security. The scorecard will help states evaluate their preparedness and guide future policy decisions.

Representatives from all 36 states participated in reviewing health security indicators to ensure the scorecard reflects state-specific realities.
