Governors Kefa and Alia Unite for Peace in Border Areas

On Monday, Agbu Kefa, the Governor of Taraba State, and Hyacinth Alia, the Governor of Benue State, held a high-level peace meeting in Wukari aimed at restoring peace in troubled border communities. The meeting involved senior government officials, security heads, and traditional rulers, emphasizing the need for cross-border cooperation to address ongoing unrest.

Governor Alia highlighted the importance of traditional rulers in conflict resolution and grassroots peacebuilding. The governors pledged to strengthen security presence and provide immediate relief assistance to displaced residents in southern Taraba.

They expressed a firm commitment to restoring calm and rebuilding trust in affected areas. The meeting is part of broader efforts to promote unity and deepen inter-state collaboration to ensure sustainable peace in volatile border communities.

The governors also reassured internally displaced persons (IDPs) of enhanced security and continued humanitarian interventions to enable their safe and dignified return home.
