Taraba, Benue Governors Unite to Tackle Insecurity

On a recent date, the governors of Taraba and Benue states, Agbu Kefa and Hyacinth Alia, convened a high-level security meeting in Wukari to discuss ongoing security challenges impacting border communities. The meeting included senior government officials, heads of security agencies, and traditional rulers, focusing on finding solutions to the crisis.

Governor Alia acknowledged the role of traditional institutions in promoting peace and stability, emphasizing the need for collaboration between the two states to confront insecurity. The governors recognized that neighboring states face similar threats and stressed the urgent need for synergy to restore peace and safeguard lives and property.

A joint committee was announced to implement the resolutions reached during the meeting, ensuring sustainable follow-up actions. Jame Ayats highlighted the importance of peace and coexistence among the people of Taraba and Benue, urging stakeholders to prioritize dialogue and unity.

The governors also visited internally displaced persons in Abako, Benue State, assuring affected communities of improved security measures and relief provisions.
