Tinubu: Grassroots Governance Collapse Fuels Insecurity

In a statement addressing the nation on June 12, President Bola Tinubu highlighted the critical role of grassroots governance in national development and its impact on security in Nigeria. He noted that the ineffectiveness of local government administration is partly due to the collapse of grassroots governance, which undermines democracy when citizens do not feel its impact.

Tinubu called for financial autonomy for the country's 774 local government councils to ensure that democracy delivers tangible benefits to the populace. He urged Nigerians to remain united and work together towards building a prosperous and inclusive nation, rejecting division and embracing hope and confidence.
