Nigeria Receives Badminton Equipment Donation from Japan

The Badminton Federation of Nigeria (BFN) received a significant boost in its grassroots and elite development programs with a donation of badminton equipment from the Badminton Association of Japan. The presentation ceremony took place in Abuja and was attended by notable dignitaries, including H.E.

Ambassador Suzuki Hideo and Mallam Shehu Dikko, Chairman of the National Sports Commission (NSC). The donation, part of Japan's Sport for Tomorrow initiative, includes 55 badminton rackets, 44 shuttlecocks, six racket covers, and three racket bags.

Ambassador Suzuki emphasized that the donation symbolizes the enduring friendship between Japan and Nigeria and aims to promote mutual understanding through sports. Franci Orbih, President of the BFN, expressed gratitude for the support, which will help address challenges in badminton development in Nigeria.

The federation plans to register badminton academies nationwide and launch a national badminton league to strengthen grassroots development and create pathways for emerging talent.
