Grenada's PM Advocates for Stronger Africa-Caribbean Ties

During the African Liberation Day celebration on May 25, 2023, Grenada's Prime Minister Dickon Mitchel urged for enhanced economic and cultural relations between Africa and the Caribbean. He acknowledged the significant contributions of the Nigerian community in Grenada to the nation's development and economy.

Mitchel described the presence of Nigerians at the event as a symbol of renewed connections between the regions, emphasizing their shared historical destinies. He stressed the need for deeper collaboration in trade and investment to create business opportunities and foster economic partnerships.

Mitchel also highlighted the importance of the African diaspora reclaiming their identity and narrative to build bridges between Africa and the Caribbean. He noted that despite Grenada's small size, the nation remains committed to strengthening ties with African nations.

The event featured remarks from Esther Matthew Tonlagha, founder of the Esther Tonlagha Foundation, who advocated for cooperation among African and Caribbean nations to drive development and create opportunities for citizens across the region.
