Nigerian Group Petitions CCB to Probe Malami Over Onnoghen's Removal

The Aldrap group, comprising Nigerian legislators and lawyers, has submitted a petition to the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB) on February 3, 2026, calling for an investigation into Abubakar Malami's actions during his time as the Attorney General. The petition accuses Malami of abusing his office during the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari, particularly in orchestrating the removal of Chief Justice Onnoghen in 2019.

The group alleges that Malami unlawfully and maliciously prosecuted Justice Nnamdi Dimgba of the Federal High Court. They also claim that Malami misused his constitutional powers and fast-tracked certain prosecutions for political reasons.

The petition further raises concerns about alleged gifts received by Malami, including vehicles from a personal NGO. The group urges the CCB to promptly investigate and prosecute Malami.
