PAYDN Supports Agbese's Call to Withdraw from ICC

The Pan-African Youth Development Network (PAYDN), a Pan-African youth advocacy organization, has endorsed the call by Hon. Philip Agbese, the member representing Ado/Okpokwu/Ogbadibo Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, for Nigeria to consider withdrawing from the International Criminal Court (ICC).

In a statement issued on Monday and signed by Country Director Dr. Charles Okolo, PAYDN described Agbese's position as timely and reflective of widespread frustrations among African nations regarding the ICC's perceived selective application of justice.

The organization argues that the ICC has become an instrument against African countries while powerful nations evade scrutiny. PAYDN insists that justice must be universal and impartial, advocating for the African Union to empower regional judicial frameworks.

They emphasize Nigeria's role as Africa's largest democracy in championing reforms for a balanced international legal order. PAYDN calls for African governments to collectively reassess their engagement with the ICC and demand reforms to restore confidence in the institution.
