PAYDN Backs Agbese's Call for Nigeria to Exit ICC

The Pan-African Youth Development Network (PAYDN) has endorsed Hon. Philip Agbese, the member representing Ado/Okpokwu/Ogbadibo Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, in his call for Nigeria to consider withdrawing from the International Criminal Court (ICC).

This support follows Agbese's remarks during a television interview on TVC, where he expressed concerns about the ICC's selective application of justice, particularly against African nations. PAYDN, in a statement signed by its Country Director, Dr.

Charles Okolo, argued that the ICC is perceived as an instrument targeting African countries while powerful nations evade scrutiny. The organization emphasized that justice should be universal and impartial, advocating for Africa to strengthen its regional judicial mechanisms.

They called on Nigeria, as Africa's largest democracy, to lead reforms promoting fairness in global justice. PAYDN urged African governments to collectively reassess their relationship with the ICC and demand reforms to restore confidence in the institution.
