Group Questions Prof. Igbagara's Candidacy for 2027 Election

The Peer Advocacy Advancement Centre Africa (PAACA) has raised concerns about Prof. Princewill Woyinbrakemi Igbagara's eligibility to contest for a House of Representatives seat in the Sagbama/Ekeremor Federal Constituency during the 2027 general elections.

The group has petitioned the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) to investigate allegations that Prof. Igbagara is simultaneously holding the position of lecturer at the Federal University Otuoke and serving as a special adviser on science and technology to the Bayelsa State government.

PAACA's executive director, Ezenwa Nwagwu, emphasized that this situation could violate public service rules and constitutional provisions. They referenced Section 66(1)(f) of the 1999 Constitution, which requires public servants to resign at least 30 days before an election.

The group warned that allowing candidacy without scrutiny undermines public confidence in the electoral process and could lead to conflicts of interest.
