Coalition Urges SERAP to Target Terror Financiers, Not Govt

A coalition of civil society organizations, led by Dr. John Samuel Nangi, has called on the Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) to redirect its efforts towards targeting terror financiers rather than criticizing the Nigerian government.

The coalition described SERAP's position as unfair and potentially damaging to Nigeria's international reputation. They argue that the ongoing security challenges in Nigeria should not be portrayed as the government's failure but rather as issues involving individuals who finance terrorism and violent crime.

The coalition emphasized that the federal government is actively deploying resources and personnel to combat terrorism and banditry across the country. They urged SERAP to focus on exposing individuals linked to terror financing through appropriate international channels, rather than presenting Nigeria in a negative light.

The coalition also criticized SERAP's silence on individuals previously linked to negotiations with armed groups, advocating for a balanced approach to accountability that does not unfairly target the Nigerian state.
