APC Warned Against Imposing Kaduna Senate Candidate

The Capac Movement has issued a warning to the All Progressives Congress (APC) regarding the imposition of a Senate candidate for the Kaduna Central district in the upcoming 2027 general elections. They emphasized the need for a transparent and democratic primary process that includes all party members.

The group specifically rejected the purported endorsement of former Senator Shehu Sani as a consensus candidate, describing it as undemocratic and lacking broad consultation with stakeholders and aspirants within the party. The statement raised concerns about the credibility of any consensus arrangements that emerge without the participation of notable aspirants, including Yerima Shettima and Yusuf Zailani.

The Capac Movement called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Uba Sani to ensure that the APC guarantees free, fair, and transparent primaries, specifically demanding direct primaries for the Kaduna Central senatorial contest. They warned that any process perceived to deny aspirants a level playing field could lead to legal and political consequences.
