Guinness Nigeria Leads Fight Against Counterfeit Goods

On Tuesday, Guinness Nigeria Plc, in collaboration with various partners, convened at its Lagos headquarters to address the growing challenge of counterfeit goods. The event, themed "Combat Counterfeit," aimed to provide a platform for stakeholders to assess the escalating threat posed by counterfeit products and explore solutions to protect consumers and safeguard brands.

Girish Sharma, Managing Director and CEO of Guinness Nigeria, and Rotimi Odusola, Corporate Relations and Legal Director, highlighted that counterfeit operations have evolved into a sophisticated global challenge, driven by digital platforms and emerging technologies. Sola Dosumu, Chairman of the Anti-Counterfeit Collaboration Nigeria, delivered a keynote address stressing the need for stronger public-private collaboration.

Tessi Ojomo from the Lagos Operations Standard Organisation Nigeria emphasized the importance of regulatory compliance and stricter penalties to deter counterfeit trade. Dr.

Martin Iluyomade from the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control discussed ongoing enforcement efforts to combat counterfeit goods.
