Kano Government Rescues Abducted LG Secretary Durya

The Kano State Government announced the successful rescue of Alhaji Hamza Durya, the Secretary of Kibiya Local Government Area, who was abducted on Friday night from his residence in Durya village. Gunmen, numbering six and arriving on motorcycles, executed the kidnapping swiftly without firing shots, leaving family members unharmed.

A statement issued on Wednesday by the state Commissioner for Internal Affairs, Ibrahim Waiya, detailed that the operation to rescue Durya and arrest the two suspects was conducted by the state security services. During the operation, the suspects sustained gunshot injuries.

The government commended the Department of State Services (DSS) for their swift response and noted that this success reflects the ongoing security strategies in place across the state. Governor Abba Yusuf emphasized the commitment to safeguarding lives and property and urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to strengthen the overall security architecture in Kano State.
