Gunmen Abduct School Principal and Students in Oyo

On Friday, between 8:00 and 9:00 AM, gunmen invaded Ahoru Esinel Community in Oriire Local Government Area, Oyo State, abducting the principal of a secondary school, Mr. Rachael Alamu, along with an unspecified number of students.

The Oyo State Police Command confirmed the incident through spokesperson DSP Ayanlad Olayinka. Reports indicate that the gunmen stormed the school premises and whisked away the students, whose exact number has yet to be confirmed.

During the attack, a teacher was shot, although the extent of the injuries remains unverified. Following the incident, the assailants fled the scene in the principal's vehicle, escaping into a nearby forest reserve.

Residents reported that the nearest police station was a considerable distance away, resulting in a delayed response from the police command. The state Commissioner of Police has deployed officers to the area to assess the situation and initiate rescue operations.
