Gunmen Kill Two Security Operatives in Plateau State

In the early hours of Tuesday, gunmen ambushed a joint security patrol in Riyom Local Government Area, Plateau State, resulting in the deaths of a police inspector from the Nigeria Police Force and a lance corporal from the Nigerian Air Force. The attack occurred around 5am when four security personnel, stationed at two guard locations, set up a snap roadblock along the Ganawuri–Sabon Gida Road.

After two personnel failed to return, a search operation was initiated, leading to the recovery of their bodies, along with the discovery that their service weapons had been taken by the attackers. A community member, Catherine, reported that the ambush took place in a volatile area previously occupied by Fulani herders.

In response, security agencies have intensified operations in the region, conducting cordon-and-search missions to locate the fleeing suspects and recover the stolen weapons. The spokesman for the Plateau State Police Command, Alabo Alfred, confirmed that investigations are ongoing.
