Gunmen Ambush Security Patrol in Plateau, Two Killed

In the early hours of Tuesday, a joint security patrol in Plateau State was ambushed by gunmen, resulting in the deaths of two operatives. The operatives, drawn from two security locations, were returning to their duty posts after setting up a roadblock when they were attacked.

Following the ambush, their colleagues initiated a search after noticing the absence of two personnel. The bodies of the slain operatives were later found at the scene, with their service rifles missing, although the motorcycle they used was recovered.

In response to the incident, security forces launched cordon-and-search operations in nearby communities to locate the attackers and retrieve the stolen weapons. As of the report's filing, the identities of the deceased operatives had not been officially confirmed, and attempts to reach SP Alfred Alabo of the Plateau State Police Command and Captain Chinonso Polycarp Oteh of Operation Enduring Peace for comments were unsuccessful.
