Gunmen Abduct Six Nasarawa State University Students

On February 25, 2023, six students from the Nasarawa State University were abducted by armed men in Keffi, specifically from the Gudi campus located in the Akwanga Local Government Area. The victims were identified as students from the Faculty of Engineering.

This incident has reignited fears regarding the safety of students in educational institutions across northern Nigeria. The abduction follows a troubling trend, as reported incidents of kidnappings have surged, affecting both secondary and tertiary educational institutions.

Manuel Fotain, serving as a special advisor on child rights at the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), expressed concern over the repeated attacks on schools, which have left students as targets and disrupted their futures. The ongoing violence against educational institutions has prompted discussions on the need for effective security measures to safeguard students and teachers in Nigeria.
