Gunmen Kidnap Ondo Monarch, Injure His Wife in Attack

On Friday, June 13, a late-night attack in Ondo State resulted in the kidnapping of a traditional ruler and the injury of his wife. Eyewitnesses reported that six armed assailants stormed the community, forcibly abducting the monarch and shooting his wife in the right hand.

The attack caused panic among residents. Jimoh Abayomi, a representative from the Ondo State Police Command, confirmed the incident and stated that the victim's wife was immediately rescued and taken to a nearby medical facility for treatment.

She is currently receiving positive medical care for her gunshot injury. Following a distress call, the police swiftly mobilized to the scene and launched a full-scale search and rescue operation in the surrounding forest and bush paths, where the suspects are believed to have escaped.
