Police Neutralize Two Kidnappers in Ondo Gunfight

On Wednesday, the Ondo State Police Command reported the killing of two suspected kidnappers during a gunfight in Ilu Abo. The incident occurred around 3:30 AM when seven masked armed men invaded the Olaiya Block Industrial Area, demanding to see the business owner.

DSP Abayomi Jimoh stated that a patrol team swiftly responded to the distress call and engaged the suspects, leading to a fierce exchange of gunfire. Two suspects were shot dead, while the remaining members of the gang fled into nearby bushes.

The police recovered a local fabric pistol, live cartridges, four mobile phones, several face masks, and two ATM cards believed to belong to the suspects' victims. The bodies of the deceased suspects were deposited at a state specialist hospital in Akure, and the case has been transferred to the Anti-Kidnap Squad of the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation.

Commissioner Felix Ohagwu reaffirmed the command's commitment to combating kidnapping and violent crime.
