Woman Abducted at Veget Market in Benin City, Edo State

A woman was reportedly kidnapped on Sunday at the popular Veget Market off Airport Road in Benin City, Edo State. The incident occurred while she was shopping with her husband and children.

Eyewitnesses shared a video online, where the woman described the kidnapping as her first experience with such an incident. CSP Eno Ikoedem, the Edo State Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed awareness of the abduction and stated that investigations are ongoing.

The woman’s husband and children were at the market to buy items for church service when she was taken. Ikoedem did not disclose specific details regarding the investigation but mentioned that the abductors had contacted the family to demand ransom.

He emphasized that the incident should be classified as an abduction rather than a kidnapping, indicating a distinction in terminology. The police are working with the family to gather more information.
