Gunmen Kill Edo Chief and Abduct Daughters in Attack

On Monday night, gunmen attacked Chief Jimah Ogboi in the Esan West Local Government Area of Edo State, killing him and abducting his two daughters. The assailants used machetes during the attack, leaving Ogboi's wife in a serious condition.

Following the incident, community elders convened an emergency meeting to discuss the possible release of the daughters and address the root causes of such attacks. Traditional ruler Alhaji Amedu Momoh has appealed to the state government and security agencies for urgent assistance to strengthen security in the area.

Eno Ikoedem, a spokesperson for the Edo State Police Command, confirmed the incident and stated that an investigation has been launched. The community expressed dissatisfaction with the growing threat of herdsmen attacks on farmland.

The incident highlights ongoing security challenges in the region, as evidenced by a recent ambush that resulted in the deaths of three herders in Plateau State.
