Gunmen Kill Edo Chief, Kidnap Daughters in Attack

In a violent attack on Monday night, Chief Jimah Ogboi, a senior palace chief of Idauh Kingdom in Esan West Local Government Area, Edo State, was shot dead by gunmen who also kidnapped his two daughters. During the attack, his wife sustained serious injuries from a machete, while his son, Lucki Ogboi, was reportedly at a nearby building when the incident occurred.

Sources within the community revealed that local elders convened an emergency meeting to strategize on rescuing the abducted daughters and addressing the circumstances surrounding the attack. Traditional ruler Alhaji Amedu Momoh has appealed to the Edo State government and security agencies for immediate assistance to enhance security in the area.

The attack involved four assailants, and the Nigerian Police have confirmed the incident, stating that an investigation has been launched. Public Relations Officer Eno Ikoedem emphasized the urgent need for government support to tackle security challenges, as concerns grow over increasing violence attributed to suspected herdsmen.
