Three Herders Killed in Barkin Ladi Ambush Incident

On Thursday night, three herders—Tahiru Muhammad (30), Jibrin Salisu (28), and Abdulmumin Isyak (31)—were ambushed and killed along the Dorowa-Jong road in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area, Plateau State. The Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), through its state chairman Ibrahim Yusuf Babayo, condemned the attack, describing it as atrocious and targeting its members.

The victims were returning from a Qur'an Tafsir session when they were ambushed, shot, and brutally attacked. MACBAN urged its members to remain calm and called on state and federal authorities to ensure justice and protection.

In response, the Berom Youth Movement (BYM) dismissed MACBAN's allegations as unfounded, accusing them of attempting to shift blame and preempt investigations. BYM leader Solomon Dalyop stated that there is no history of armed groups from the Berom community and criticized MACBAN's claims.

Security personnel, including soldiers and police, visited the scene, and a full investigation has been ordered by Major General Folusho Oyinlola.
