Gunmen Kill Kebbi Businessman, Kidnap Pregnant Wife

On March 13, 2026, gunmen attacked the residence of 35-year-old businessman Sufiyanu Garba in the Badariya area of Birnin Kebbi, Kebbi State, resulting in his death and the abduction of his pregnant wife, Zainab Moham. The attack occurred in the early hours of Friday, and the incident was confirmed by Moham Yauri, Garba's senior brother.

According to Yauri, the gunmen invaded their home, shot Garba, and took his wife to an unknown location. Following the attack, Garba was buried in the main cemetery of Birnin Kebbi in accordance with Islamic rites on the same day.

Bashir Usman, the spokesperson for the Kebbi State Police Command, confirmed the incident and stated that an investigation had been launched. He expressed concern over the unfortunate occurrence, which is part of a broader trend of violence, as at least 14 people were reported killed and several others injured in separate bandit attacks in the Dandum Musawa local government area of Katsina State.
