Gunmen Kill Couple in Plateau State Amid Security Crisis

In Plateau State, gunmen suspected to be Fulani militia killed a young couple, Iliya Gyang, aged 30, and his pregnant wife, Grace Iliya, aged 25, in Angwan Ishaku, Barkin Ladi Local Government Area. This tragic incident occurred on Wednesday evening as the couple returned home.

They were ambushed by assailants on motorcycles who opened fire, killing them instantly. Grace was heavily pregnant and expected to deliver in June or July, and the couple had a one-year-old twin boy.

The attack followed a controversial shoot-on-sight order issued by Governor Caleb Mutfwang, aimed at addressing violence in the state. The Berom Youth Moulder Association condemned the incident, calling for intensified security operations and support for the orphaned children.

The assailants were reportedly identified as Fulani bandits who fled the scene after the attack. The incident has raised concerns about security in the region, prompting calls for government action to arrest the perpetrators.
