Gunmen Kill 24 in Plateau State Community Attack

In a midnight attack on Binper community in Kombun District, Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State, at least 24 people were confirmed dead, with several others injured. The heavily armed gunmen invaded homes, killing occupants who were asleep and setting houses ablaze, which exacerbated the humanitarian crisis in the agrarian community.

Eyewitnesses reported that the attackers moved systematically from house to house, slaughtering residents. More than 20 bodies were recovered, and many residents remain unaccounted for.

A local resident expressed disappointment over the delayed response from security operatives, who arrived only after the attackers had fled. Victims with injuries were taken to nearby hospitals for treatment, while community leaders and volunteers searched for missing persons.

The Plateau State Police Command confirmed the incident and stated they were verifying casualty numbers. The new Commissioner of Police, Ayodeji Faniyan, along with senior officers, was en route to the affected community to assess the damage.
