Gunmen Kill Three at Mining Site in Plateau State

On Tuesday at around 11:50 AM, gunmen attacked a mining site in Nyango, Gyel District, Jos South Local Government Area, Plateau State, resulting in the deaths of three individuals and injuries to many others. Eyewitnesses reported that the gunmen, suspected to be Fulani terrorists, descended on the site while miners were engaged in menial activities, causing panic as residents fled for safety.

The attackers ransacked the area, stealing valuables. Following the incident, the Berom Youth Moulder Association, represented by Rwang Tengwong, expressed deep concern over the recurring insecurity in Gyel and surrounding communities.

They called on security agencies and government authorities to take urgent action to dismantle criminal hideouts and restore peace. This attack is not an isolated incident, as residents of Gyel and neighboring Bassa Local Government Area have repeatedly raised concerns about violence attributed to armed groups operating in the region.
