Gunmen Kill Two Vigilantes in Plateau Community Attack

In a tragic incident in a Plateau community, gunmen killed two vigilantes, Davou Dalyop Patu, aged 48, and Dalyop Zaram, aged 38, around 10 PM while they were keeping watch. The deceased were active members of a local vigilante group dedicated to protecting the community.

Their deaths have heightened tensions among residents, who expressed fears over persistent security challenges facing rural communities in Riyom Local Government Area (LGA). Community leader Livinu Badung confirmed the incident, lamenting the loss of two selfless men who dedicated their time and energy to ensuring the safety of the people.

The community is devastated by the attack, struggling to cope with the loss of these dedicated security volunteers. Rwang Tengwong, spokesperson for the Berom Youth Moulder Association, expressed sadness over the incident and extended condolences to the bereaved families.

He called on security agencies to intensify efforts to protect lives and property and urged authorities to ensure that the perpetrators are identified and brought to justice. Captain Polycarp Oteh, spokesperson for Operation Enduring Peace, had not responded to inquiries regarding the incident at the time of reporting.
