Gunmen Kill OSPAC Commander and Three Women in Rivers

On Tuesday evening, gunmen suspected to be cultists shot and killed Ozomela Stephen Nwaocha, the zonal commander of the Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area Security Planning and Advisory Committee (OSPAC), along with three women, including his sister, in Omoku, Rivers State. The attack occurred around 5 p.m. while Nwaocha was relaxing outside his compound with the women on Oba Road.

The incident is believed to be a reprisal following a violent clash related to a community dispute earlier that day. Reports indicate that armed security personnel and OSPAC members had disrupted a youth meeting, resulting in injuries to two youths.

Following the attack, there was widespread panic in the area, with many residents fleeing to safer locations and businesses shutting down. Nkem Godknows, the Public Relations Officer of OSPAC in Rivers State, confirmed the incident and stated that two other victims were hospitalized with gunshot wounds.

He called for calm and assistance from the government and security agencies.
