Aliyu Urges Repair of Airport Lighting for Hajj Airlift

Governor Ahmad Aliyu of Sokoto has called on the Federal Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development to urgently address the poor aviation lighting system at Sultan Abubakar III International Airport. This appeal was made during a courtesy visit to the office of the Minister, Festus Keyamo, in Abuja.

Governor Aliyu highlighted that the inadequate lighting poses a serious challenge that hinders smooth airport operations, particularly during night hours. He noted that the state loses significant opportunities due to airlines' inability to land at night, which is exacerbated by the poor lighting system.

The governor emphasized the need for urgent intervention, especially with the 2026 Hajj airlift approaching. He commended the aviation minister for various initiatives aimed at improving Nigeria's aviation sector and received assurances that the ministry would address the lighting challenges promptly.

Governor Aliyu was accompanied by several officials, including the Secretary to the State Government, Muhammad Bello Sifawa, and the Chief of Staff, Aminu Haliru Dikko.
