Hamzat Promises Decentralized Services for Lagos Residents

Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, the Lagos State Deputy Governor and All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, has committed to creating a more interconnected Lagos by decentralizing government services and fostering economic development across the state's five divisions: Ikeja, Badagry, Ikorodu, Lagos Island, and Epe (IBILE). In an interview on Thursday at a radio station in Ikorodu, Hamzat emphasized the need for residents to access government services locally rather than traveling to Alausa.

He proposed establishing mini-secretariats in Ikorodu, Badagry, and Epe to resolve approximately 80% of service needs within those divisions. Hamzat highlighted Ikorodu's potential in agriculture, food processing, and transportation, and stressed the importance of reorganizing local government administration to improve accountability and eliminate inefficiencies.

He also noted the necessity of planning Lagos as a borderless metropolitan city, considering the infrastructure needs of residents from neighboring states. Hamzat assured that the development would be inclusive, reflecting the unique needs of each division.
