Traffic Disruption on Lagos-Ibadan Expressway Due to Crashes

On Friday, severe gridlock occurred on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway due to multiple road crashes, particularly affecting the Kara Bridge section. The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) reported that the first crash happened around 12:05 a.m. on the outbound lane, involving five articulated trucks and a Toyota Sienna, resulting in one death and one injury among seven adult males.

Recovery efforts were complicated as the deceased was trapped under a truck. A second accident occurred at 3:15 a.m. on the inbound carriageway, involving a Mazda commercial bus due to brake failure, with the driver sustaining serious injuries.

The FRSC, led by Lagos Sector Public Education Officer Elizabeth Jayeola and Lagos Sector Commander Kehinde Hamzat, coordinated rescue operations with LASEMA and other responders. Motorists were advised to use alternative routes while the situation was managed, and the FRSC emphasized the importance of vehicle maintenance and adherence to road safety regulations.
