Traffic Gridlock on Lagos-Ibadan Expressway Due to Crashes

On Friday, severe traffic gridlock occurred on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway due to multiple road crashes, particularly affecting the Kara Bridge section. The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) reported that the first crash happened around 12:05 a.m. on the outbound lane, involving five articulated trucks and a Toyota Sienna, leading to one death and one injury among seven adult males.

Recovery efforts were complicated as the deceased was trapped under a truck. A second accident occurred at approximately 3:15 a.m. on the inbound lane, involving a Mazda commercial bus due to brake failure, resulting in serious injuries to the driver.

Emergency responders, including FRSC and Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), worked to clear the scene and restore traffic. FRSC Lagos Sector Commander Kehinde Hamzat advised motorists to use alternative routes and emphasized the importance of vehicle maintenance and adherence to road safety regulations.
